I am directed by Mr. Secretary Creech Jones to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 29th June regarding the fire which broke out in godowns in Hong Kong on the 22nd September, 1948, and to transmit to you, for the information of Mr. Secretary Ede, a copy of the report of the Commission appointed to enquire into the matter, which has just been received from the Colony.

2. The Governor is being asked for information as to what action has been taken or is proposed on the Commission's recommendations.
